Donate, lest we forget

The restoration of the Parco della Rimembranza, the Memorial Garden.

As part of conserving the historical memory to hand down to future generations our fundraising project "Dare per ricordare" (donate lest we forget) will be ongoing until late spring.

As an integral part of the project, the Opera di Santa Croce is restoring the imposing marble statue God the Father by the Florentine artist Baccio Bandinelli, which dominates the centre of the Parco della Rimembranza. The gardens, with their ten cypresses and as many memorial stones, has become one of the key places for local citizens and residents alike to visit in remembrance.

To further support this essential restoration we have launched a new guided visit dedicated to Memory. These visits will take place to mark special celebrations or can be organized on request.

The route will wind through the poignant area in Santa Croce dedicated to the celebration of the memory of the two world wars, some of which are normally closed to the public: the chapel of the Italian Mother, the Famedio dei Fiorentini, the Shrine of the Florentines who died for their homeland and the Parco della Rimembranza. It will become the Memory itinerary that will have as a focal point the history of Italy and its Greats, whose monuments and tombs are kept within the monumental complex.
